The owners of Rex Boutique in San Diego wanted a modern and sophisticated aesthetic for their new store on Abbot Kinney in Venice, and they hired SPI to design a unique space that would draw in foot traffic.

SPI decided on a neutral color palette, consisting mainly of brown, black and cream tones. Splashes of bright greens in the dressing room area, along with the vibrant clothing and jewelry on display, add color to the store. Cantilevered clothing racks constructed of environmentally friendly wood laminate line the two walls. The focal point of the store is an oversized Austrian Kalmar cascading chandelier featured in the film Ocean’s Thirteen. Below the chandelier is a 10’ table that functions both as cash wrap and jewelry display with glass boxes on either end to display the products. All of the walls glisten with a high-gloss white Venetian plaster treatment.

The dressing rooms are separated from the shopping area by a 12’ foot wall adorned with striped mirrors. A conversation piece ottoman sits in the center of the dressing rooms to provide extra seating. Hanging above the ottoman is a vintage glass spiral chandelier.
